Mulled wine
is a populer drink throughout Europe and the Nothern Hemisphere especially during winter time. Mulled wine is made by infusing wine with spices and fruit peel and sugar and serving it hot. Typicallyb the spices used are cinnamon, cloves and star anise, but ginge, cardamom and fennel seeds can make interesting verieties. The word mulled means "hot and spiced" and therefore this term can be applied for other drinks such as applewine, ciders, and mead which are prepared in similar fashion and served hot. Variations of mulled wine can include, added brandy or other spirits, white wine as an base product, different wine variaties such as cabrnets and merlots and even an eggyolk.
